The cold

Well, it's not as cold as it's been. You should all definetly check out this video though http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-DWJBK2Nrc it's from the super cold snap we had here. We've been having a great time. I'm working after regular hours at the Coffee House, where we serve coffee with some additions, and wine. It's a good time. Jeremy got to see the Southern Lights the other night...I on the other hand did not get out of bed!

Frozen eye lids

Well, it was below -100 degrees F! Jeremy almost froze his eye lids, shut or open would have both been a problem. We would run from building to building it was so cold. On the jano end of things, our tasking was different since we couldn't mop in a lot of places. After we'd mop, the floor would then freeze. One of my friends actually biffed it! The showers were freezing over after a dousing of water as well! Our friend threw a glass full of boiling water outside, and it evaporated before it even hit the ground!

Today was a lot warmer, at only -34 ambient temp! it's amazing what starts to feel warm! we were all excited that we didn't necessarily have to cover our entire face to walk 5 steps!!! That's the most exciting stuff that I have going for me today. It's our saturday, and we have our "weekend" tomorrow, then back to work on Monday!

Home sweet home!

We are here! We had a few days of delay in Christchurch that felt like a vacation, and now we are here. We got our dorm room, and have been working on making it cozy. We saw some beautiful clouds tonight, I can't remember what they are called, but they are pink and green and amazing! pictures will follow soon, but i didn't bring that card with me to the computer lab. we both start work tomorrow.
today the weather was mild...meaning it wasn't super windy, but still a cool -30 or so. we went for a walk for about half an hour, then headed back inside. brrr. one funny thing that is totally jeremy, is that when he saw the clouds, he ran to get his camera...but did he grab his coat, hat or gloves? of course not. so here i am watching jeremy from our dorm lounge run around outside in jeans, and a long sleeve t-shirt with his camera amongst people in parkas and balacavas! typical jeremy!

Leaving on a jet plane...with several stops!

We leave tomorrow morning! We're off to Denver for 3 days, and then to Christchurch, via Sydney for 2 nights. Finally on the 20th, we are scheduled to be on the ice! Our bags still aren't packed, and it's 4:30 pm. Last minute packing will help us go fast out of necessity, at least that's what we're trying to tell ourselves! The next post you get will be from the bottom of the world! Until then....here is what my fortune said from my safeway chinese that we got for lunch today: Travelling to the south will bring you unexpected happiness! How perfect in a creepy way!

Soon!

We are 24 days away from leaving! We got our itinerary and are mentally ready! We are not physically ready however! We have been working hard on the house and trying to visit people before our departure. I keep writing lists of items we need to get before we go, things we need to get done on the house, things we need to do before we go...and the lists are getting longer...not shorter! The best thing to think about is that in 25 days, it won't matter!
